I have the evidence and skills to address all communication, speech, language, and literacy needs--it’s all connected!”
What is dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a language-based learning disorder where children and adults struggle to read fluently, spell words correctly and even learn a second language. These challenges have no connection to overall intelligence. In fact, Dyslexia is an unexpected difficulty in reading in an individual who has the intelligence to be a much better reader. Although people with Dyslexia are slow readers, they often have numerous strengths and are very fast and creative thinkers with strong reasoning abilities.

dyslexia warning signs
Your child might benefit from a Dyslexia screening and evaluation if you or a teacher/caregiver notices some of the following concerns:
Preschool/Kindergarten
Elementary/Middle School
Love & Literacy, LLC provides comprehensive literacy and Dyslexia screenings, evaluations, and intervention for children who have difficulty with reading, writing, spelling, comprehension and/or memorization. Literacy skills impact academic, emotional and social development therefore it’s important to start the process early if you notice any warning signs.
Early Intervention Matters!
“Studies have shown that when intervention is delayed until 3rd grade or 9 years of age, then approximately 74% of these children will continue to have difficulties learning to read through high school”. American Academy of Pediatrics, “Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia and Vision” (2011)
services offered
Literacy Consultation (up to 30 minutes)
This is a free service offered to better understand the child's needs. Through conversation and interaction, Nicole will determine if a literacy evaluation is a good fit for the child. Other resources may be discussed that are outside of private therapy, if applicable.
Dyslexia Screening (30-40 minutes)
If warning signs of Dyslexia are present, a Dyslexia screening will be recommended to determine if a Dyslexia evaluation is appropriate for the child and to identify strengths and weaknesses in areas of reading that are consistent with characteristics of Dyslexia.
Literacy Evaluation (60 minutes)
This service includes a comprehensive evaluation consisting of interview, observation, parent input, and language & literacy testing with a standardized assessment to identify the child’s strengths and weaknesses.
Dyslexia Evaluation (3-4 hours throughout multiple sessions)
This service includes a comprehensive evaluation consisting of interview, observation, parent and teacher input, and Dyslexia testing with a standardized assessment to identify the child’s strengths and weaknesses.
The appropriate evaluation will be determined after completion of a free consultation and/or Dyslexia screening. After the evaluation is complete, a formal written report will be created and explained. We will collaborate and create the best individualized intervention plan, along with recommended accommodations for the classroom, to set the child up for success academically and professionally.
Intervention (45 minutes)
During this service, Nicole will work with the child on the goals that were identified during the evaluation process. These services can be weekly or bi-weekly.
Frequently asked questions
why a need for a dyslexia diagnosis?
A diagnosis can help a child receive the appropriate treatment, accommodations and modifications for school. It also allows a child to receive additional support for high-stakes tests, such as the ACT or SAT. Talking about Dyslexia can help them understand their learning style and begin advocating for their needs. The more they understand, the better they can ask for the help they need!
“Dyslexia can’t be “cured” – it is lifelong. But with the right supports, Dyslexic individuals can become highly successful students and adults.” The Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity (2022)
who is eligibile for an evaluation?
Love & Literacy, LLC evaluates children and teens ages 5 to 18 who have unexpected difficulties in reading and spelling, but otherwise typical development.
What does the evaluation consist of?

Can insurance be billed?
Insurance companies do not pay for learning evaluations such as dyslexia testing or testing for academic accommodations. When agreeing to services, the price is honest, clear, and reasonable because insurance is not dictating reimbursement rates. Private pay allows Nicole more time to interact and intervene with your child and less time documenting.
*If you have out of network benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance for intervention (usually around 60-80% per session). You will be responsible for paying for each session in full and a document, known as a "super-bill", will be provided to you at the end of each month that you can submit to your insurance company.
